Certification Body Transfer (CB Transfer):
A CB transfer occurs when a Certificate Holder (farm, farm group, or supply chain actor) decides to move their certification oversight from one Certification Body to another. This process is carefully managed to ensure continuity of certification, transparency, and the integrity of the Rainforest Alliance seal.
Reasons for CB Transfer
Operational changes: Certificate Holder relocates or restructures operations, requiring a CB with regional presence or expertise.
Service preference: Certificate Holder seeks improved service, responsiveness, or language support.
Compliance or contractual issues: Dissatisfaction with current CB or inability to meet contractual obligations.
Strategic alignment: Certificate Holder chooses a CB with specialized knowledge in their sector or supply chain.
Key Steps in the Transfer Process
Formal Notification
Certificate Holder informs both the current CB and the Rainforest Alliance of their intent to transfer.
A new agreement is established with the incoming CB.
System Updates (MyRA & RACP)
Certificate Holder initiates the “handshake” with the new CB in RACP.
The new CB Administrator updates organizational records, ensuring the Certificate Holder is linked to their CB profile.
Data Migration
Audit history, corrective actions, and certification status are transferred to the new CB.
This prevents gaps in compliance oversight and ensures continuity of certification.
Audit Continuity
If an audit is pending or corrective actions are unresolved, the new CB assumes responsibility for completing them.
Surveillance or renewal audits are scheduled according to the certification cycle.
Certification Oversight
The new CB takes over certificate management, including extensions, suspensions, or cancellations if necessary.
They ensure that compliance monitoring continues seamlessly.
