        Welcome to the e-course on the Sustainable Agriculture Standard 2020. This course will provide you with in-depth and practical understanding of all topics in the standard.  Each requirement is explained through photos, illustrations and real examples from the field. There are also short-case studies that are presented throughout the course in the form of quizzes so that you can self-assess your level of understanding. This course is under development and new modules will be added on a weekly basis. In the next few months, all 38 modules will be available to cover all topics in the standard.

            • Learn to manage a learning intervention

              As part of our vision for continuous improvement of training process, all internal and associate trainers are strongly encouraged to document their learning interventions in the Rainforest Alliance Learning Network. This will allow our trainers and participants to access different learning interventions in one place and for RA to periodically monitor and improve the quality of e-courses, face-to-face and online trainings based on collected data and feedback. In such platform trainers also have the chance to track the progress of participants' competences.

              As a trainer, contributing to the development of peoples' lives enhancing their experiences gives us a deep sense of fulfilment and pleasure. At the same time, being a trainer is a continuous learning experience that can be tough at times: we are often confronted with pitfalls and challenging group dynamics. The good news is that we can easily increase our success by learning to better design our courses and tailor those to the needs of our target audiences. Some key elements to take into account when doing so are the adult learning cycle principles and the application of practical tips to deliver a great learning experience. All of this should be in line to the standards of the Training and Learning department.

From planning the agenda, to choosing the speakers, rolling out a promotional campaign, collaborate on all kinds of subjects, using the right tools, there are several challenges organizers need to consider. Reviewing these potential hurdles will help to highlight any specific issues or areas that need improvement. In this online training you will learn how to increase your success of the design and delivery of your online workshop. And this is important in particular in times of Covid-19, where there is simply no opportunity to meet each other in person.

                • Assess Associate Trainers online

                  The Rainforest Alliance relies on a network of associate trainers that support farmers in the implementation of the standard. These trainers distinguish themselves from others because of their knowledge of good agricultural practices, their experience in training and coaching and their drive to motivate farmers to manage their farm profitable and sustainable. The policy of the training department requires that an applicant goes successful through an onsite assessment by the ATN Manager before they can become a member of the network. Unfortunately Covid 19 measures do not allow face-to-face training. In this training you will learn how to apply online assessment as an alternative for on-site assessment.

                  • Understand the steps that are required in online assessment of Associate trainers.
                  • Recognize the relation between competencies and the questions in the On-site assessment form and the Online-assessment tool.
                  • Apply the Online- assessment tool and identify case(s) you want the applicant to demonstrate in a workshop.
                  • Assess the competence of an applicant by online demonstration of cases making use of roleplay.
